A trip back in time

Vintage tractors roll through downtown Thor at the start of their tractor ride which took place on June 9. The tour included a stop in Goldfield before returning. Independent photo. See this photo and more at www.humboldtnews.com.

By Phil Monson
If you were passing through Thor on the afternoon of June 9, you would have wondered if you were going back in time.
Nearly 25 1950s era tractors converged on the small town to take part in a local tractor ride. Organized by area antique tractor enthusiasts Mark Burres and Scott Rasmussen, the contingent began their trip east to Goldfield, where they passed through the river park and returned back to Thor, where they were treated to a fine ribeye steak meal at the local restaurant.
“This is an idea we brain-stormed back in April, just a fun little local ride. There will be some guys here today who have never been on a tractor ride,” Burres said.
“It just seems like every weekend between Memorial Day and Labor Day there is always something going on,” said Rasmussen, member of the North Central Antique Tractor Club.
