AmericInn now open in Humboldt


The new Humboldt AmericInn Hotel and Suites at 307 13th St. N., opened its doors with a soft opening on Thursday, July 20. The business plans a grand opening in five weeks. Humboldt Independent photo by Kent Thompson.

Approximately nine months after breaking ground, the new 41-room, two-story AmericInn Hotel and Suites on Highway 169 and 3rd Avenue North, officially opened for business last Thursday, July 20, with a soft opening.
According to Jason Brownfield, general manager for the Humboldt location, the business plans a grand opening in five weeks.
The new hotel promises a high-level of service and a 100 percent smoke-free environment. The hotel offers many amenities, including a microwave oven, refrigerator and 40-inch TV in each guest room.
The Humboldt location includes a wine and beer bar, fitness center, guest laundry facilities, free hotel-wide, high-speed internet and motorcoach parking.
The indoor heated pool and hot tub area is still under construction and is expected to be completed by Sept. 1. There is an error in the print version, the hotel allows only dogs 50 pounds or lighter, not all pets as stated.

Wildcats place 6 on All-NCC baseball

Humboldt, a fourth-place finisher in the North Central Conference baseball standings this past summer, ended up placing six players on the league's post-season all-conference team.
Humboldt head coach Jason Thurm made the announcement at the team banquet on July 18. Humboldt compiled an overall record of 18-12, 8-6 in league play.
Humboldt players recognized include first-team picks Devon Clark and Reese DeWinter, along with second-team selections in Isaac Thurm, Owen Newton and Hudson Gargano. Joey Busse was a third-team pick.
