Humboldt baseball team tops Garrigan, fall at Spencer

The Humboldt baseball team visited Algona Bishop Garrigan on July 6 in non-conference action and posted a 9-4 victory over the Golden Bears. The victory improved Humboldt's season record to 16-10. The Wildcats totaled eight hits in the game, led by Devon Clark and Reese DeWinter each with two. DeWinter and Hudson Gargano each hit a triple. Joey Busse earned the win pitching for the Wildcats. On Friday, July 7, the Wildcats traveled to Spencer and lost a 9-4 contest to the 17-5 Tigers.

Humboldt falls to Webster City, 12-0
In a North Central Conference game with league-leading Webster City made up on Wednesday afternoon, the Humboldt High baseball team fell to the Lynx, 12-0 in five innings. The contest was suspended in the fourth inning Monday night in Humboldt due to lightning.

No. 4 Humboldt softball team blanks Spencer in 3 innings, 13-0

The No. 4 ranked Humboldt softball team closed out its regular season in impressive fashion Monday night at home by shutting out the Spencer Tigers in three innings, 13-0. Humboldt jumped on the Tigers for nine runs in the first inning en route to their 28th victory over the season with just four losses. Ellie Jacobson pitched a no-hitter for the Wildcats, who hammered the Tigers for 13 hits and had no errors. Carlie Thompson made three hits to lead Humboldt, which also got home runs from Taylor Gidel and Jacobson.

Humboldt begins post-season tournament play at home on Wednesday night when they face Gilbert in a 7 p.m. contest. The winner will play Friday night against Roland-Story or South Hardin in Humboldt.
