The Derrick Elman era is now under way for the Humboldt High School football program. Elman, a Buffalo Center native and a 14-year teacher/coach in the Iowa Falls-Alden School District, begins his first year leading the Humboldt Wildcats.
Humboldt will hold its Sports/drink scrimmage on Friday, Aug. 17, 5 p.m. at Mason Maach Field in Humboldt. Clear Lake will visit Humboldt to take part in the scrimmage, which will include the freshman squad right away, followed by the varsity and junior varsity athletes.
Humboldt will begin its regular season at home on Aug. 24, 7:30 p.m. against long-time area rival Algona. The freshmen kickoff at 4:45 p.m. that night.
