Humboldt enrollment up by 50; new kindergarten added

The Humboldt Community School District continues to buck the trend when it comes to enrollment – in a positive way.
With the official count date now in the books, Humboldt School Superintendent Greg Darling reported the district is up 50 students this year. Half of those students are open enrollment and the other half are new students who moved into the district.
Darling presented the positive growth in Monday’s regular monthly meeting of the board of education.
“Wow. It’s exciting. We have 50 new students! Can we guess where they come from? I don’t know,” Darling said.
“Since registration, our kindergarten class has gone up 20 students. Just 10 days ago we had five new kindergartners,” Darling said. “Of course, those students arrived after count day. Overall great news is that we have the increase.”
