Matt Dominick is seeing a dream come true with his new business, Dom’s Café and Catering.
The new restaurant is located at 331 Sumner Avenue across from the Humboldt Family Aquatic Center.
Dom’s is open Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and features made to order breakfast including eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, toast, pancakes, hash browns, breakfast sandwiches on English muffins and breakfast burritos. Biscuits and gravy are offered on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Drinks include milk, juice, soda or coffee.
The lunch menu consists of a special offered each day until it is gone.
The menu will be ever changing, especially with the seasons. In the winter when it’s harder to smoke meat outside, Dom’s will offer more winter foods such as soups and chili. He’s also looking forward to offering one of his specialty dishes, stuffed manicotti.
Dom’s also has an ice cream machine that has already proved to be popular.

Wildcats return 18 lettermen

Humboldt’s third-year head football coach Derrick Elman and his squad are not taking anything for granted.
As the new high school season begins amid the coronavirus pandemic still in place, Elman and his squad are savoring every moment on the field.
“A lot of things had to happen for us to play football this year. And I think a lot of things still have to happen for us to play football this year. I’ve told the kids almost every practice, we are doing this thing day by day,” Elman said. “And we are adhering to these policies. With that, it could still be shut down today, so we truly have to play each as if it could be our last.”

Volleyball team wants NCC title back

Defending NCC co-champs return 7 letterwinners

Humboldt volleyball coach Justin McDaniel and his squad are focused on the task at hand, one day at a time, in order to get to where they want to be in two months.
McDaniel’s Wildcats return seven letterwinners and a deep roster off of last year’s team that went 30-6 overall, 6-1 and second in the North Central Conference.
The coronavirus pandemic has helped put it all into perspective.
“We are very thankful to have a volleyball season right now. We take it one day at a time. We don’t want to get that email or phone call telling us we are shut down. We are following all the protocols and we talk about social distancing, washing our hands and sanitizing everything and doing it every break. We are doing our part to keep this program going this year,” McDaniel said.
