Drive-in, live and remote services planned

As they have all year in 2020, area churches are being creative in terms of worship for the celebration of Christmas.
Here is a rundown of what some local churches are doing. This list is not meant to be all-inclusive. There may be other churches in the county conducting Christmas Eve or Christmas Day services that are not listed here.

Wildcat boys rip HDC, 70-50

Caden Matson scored 19 points, Gabe Gidel made 12 and Ben Kuehnast added 10 to lead the Humboldt boys' basketball team past Hampton-Dumont-CAL, 70-50 in a North Central Conference game in Hampton Tuesday night (Dec. 22).

Humboldt is now 6-1 overall, 3-1 in the NCC.

The Wildcats will be off after the Christmas break when they host Garner-Hayfield/Ventura on Jan. 5.

Humboldt girls in 54-50 victory at Hampton

The Humboldt girls' basketball team kept up their winning ways by turning back the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs, 54-50 in a North Central Conference matchup in Hampton on Tuesday night (Dec. 22).

Kendal Clark scored 23 points, Bae Arnold netted 12 and Jori Hajek added 11 to lead the Wildcats, who improved to 6-2 overall, 3-1 in conference play.

Hanson and Meader led the Bulldogs with 17 each.

Humboldt will be off until Monday, Jan. 4, when they visit Belmond-Klemme in a non-conference game.

Humboldt wrestlers fall to Bulldogs, 50-24

Hampton-Dumont-CAl rallied from an early deficit and took advantage of a Humboldt lineup without several regulars as the Bulldogs defeated the Wildcats, 50-24 in a North Central Conference dual in the Humboldt gym on Tuesday, Dec. 22.

The loss dropped Humboldt's record to 4-2 overall, 1-2 in the NCC.

The Wildcats will be off until Jan. 2 when they compete in the Central Elkader tournament. On Jan. 7 the Wildcats host Clear Lake in conference dual action.

Wildcats crown 2 champs at Fort Dodge, place 6th

The Humboldt wrestling team placed sixth in the team scoring and crowned two individual champions in the Don Miller Invitational wrestling tournament in Fort Dodge on Saturday, Dec. 19.

For the Wildcat boys, Jase Goodell at 126 and Colten Goodell at 220 won individual titles for Humboldt. Joe Weydert was runner-up at 145. Jayden Gargano was third at 106 while Colby Clarken (132) and Ty Gargano (138) were both fourth. Christian Alcala was fifth at 170 and DJ Muir sixth at 120.

For the Wildcat girls, second place went to Lillian Morey, Brett Harklau, Claire Weydert, Kailee Dettmann, Kali Beaman, Alexa Hemmelrick, Maria Elizondo and Kendal Clark. Placing third was Jasmyn Zinnel and Abby Satern. Kylie Moser was forth, along with Mya Vote, Bre Hotovec, Deni McDaniel, Baylie Beers and Alondra Torres.

The Wildcats return to action at home against Hampton-Dumont-CAL on Dec. 22.
