Sanders selected Humboldt police chief

Joel Sanders of St. Joseph, IL, has been selected as Humboldt's new police chief. Sanders was one of 23 applicants after the Humboldt City Council decided in early October to part ways with Dean Kruger as police administrator and hire its own full-time chief. The Humboldt City Council, city department heads and members of local law enforcement interviewed three finalists last Saturday with Sanders getting the nod. He will be paid a salary of $75,000 per year.

Joel Sanders of St Joseph, Illinois is set to be the next Police Chief for the City of Humboldt. Sanders is currently a Lieutenant with the Urbana, IL Police Department, where he has been for over 20 years of his 30-year career in law enforcement. During his career, Sanders has served as a patrol officer with the cities of LeRoy and Rock Island, where he also served as the school resource officer. Along with his work experience, Sanders also has an associate degree in Criminal Justice, a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, and a master’s degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration.
