HHS to present Annie

Carter Theesfeld and Elle Clark are shown rehearsing for “Annie,” the musical being performed at Humboldt High School Thursday, Friday and Saturday (April 15-17). The play will be presented at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday nights and at 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at the R. Wesley Carlson Auditorium at HHS. Tickets are available at the high school office or at the door. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for students. There will be general seating with social distancing incorporated. Masks will be required. The musical "Annie" will be livestreamed. Due to royalties, you must purchase the livestream rights ($7). Wildcats win Bunn Relays

The Humboldt boys' track team hosted their annual Charlie Bunn Relays on Friday, April 9, and came away with the team title.
Humboldt won nine events and scored 188 points. Webster City was runner-up at 145.

Quinton Orr led Humboldt in winning the 1,600 (4:44.19) and 3,200 (10:34.96) events. Aiden Christensen won the high jump (5-10) and Lance Coon won the long jump (19-7). Caden Matson won the 400-meter hurdles in 58.53 seconds and Cale Hundertmark won the 200 (23:52). Eric Wittrock took the 800-meters in a meet record time of 2:00.13. Humboldt also won the shuttle hurdle relay (1:02.54-JCoon, Gerjets, Christensen, Matson. Humboldt was first in the 4x400 relay (3:30.32-Matson, Christensen, Orr, Wittrock). Humboldt’s distance medley relay (3:47.89) of Hubbell, Wickett, Berte and Orr also won gold.

HHS boys 2nd at Spencer, down Pocahontas Area

Jayden Gargano shot a 42 in leading the Humboldt boys' golf team to a runner-up finish in a three-team meet at Spencer on April 5.

Humboldt finished with 173 strokes, nine behind first-place Spencer (164). Algona Bishop Garrigan was third with 181.

Humboldt returned to action on April 9 at home against Pocahontas Area and posted a two-stroke victory over the Indians, 176-178. Game Gidel carded a 39 to pace Humboldt. Jayden Gargano shot a 43. Caleb Freeburg paced Pocahontas Area with a 43.

The Wildcats travel to Algona on Friday, April 23, to face the Bulldogs and Clear Lake in a conference triangular.
