The unbeaten Humboldt football team pushed their season record to 4-0 at Boone tonight (Sept. 17) after rolling past the Toreadors, 40-12 in non-district action.

Humboldt took a 33-0 lead at halftime, thanks to Caden Matson's three touchdown passes to Will Orness, along with a rushing TD by Matson and one by Tanner McKimmey. Corey Dettmann intercepted two passes for the Wildcats.

Humboldt returns home on Friday, Sept. 24, to host Ballard Huxley in their annual homecoming contest. It will also be the start of Class 3A District 2 play for the Wildcats.

Cy-Hawk Tug of War

Former Iowa Hawkeye and Indianapolis Colt Dallas Clark uses all of his might to try to rope his way to an Iowa victory in the tug-o-war last Thursday during the Cy-Hawk Rivalry on Sumner. Clark’s team fell to the Cyclones in the test of strength but the Hawkeyes prevailed in last Saturday’s big game in Ames, 27-17. See this and other photos at www.humboldtnews.com. Leo Grebner Car Show

Dakota City’s Brad Strutzenberg would classify himself as a classic car nut. That’s why he was proud to show off this 1969 Plymouth Road Runner for a friend who works out-of-state. “I collected for a long time, mostly Ford Mustangs,” Strutzenberg said. “I have done brokering for classic cars and have shipped cars to buyers all over the U.S.,” Strutzenberg said. This Road Runner features an immaculate original interior and body. The rear end and transmission have been redone. The 383 V-8 engine was popular in Chrysler vehicles in the late 1950s-1970s. The owner is willing to sell the antique auto for a price of $55,000, Strutzenberg said. See this and other photos at www.humboldtnews.com. Humboldt Independent photo by Kent Thompson.
