By KENT THOMPSON
Approximately 180 interested and concerned citizens gathered in the Humboldt County Events Center on Oct. 28 to review design drawings, ask questions and offer opinions on the future of the Joe Reasoner Dam.
Stantec Consulting of Des Moines was hired by Humboldt County to do a study report on ways to improve the dam and/or river in the community. The consulting firm came up with a 40-page report, which was presented at the Oct. 28 open house.
According to the report’s executive summary, “Reasoner Dam and the upstream impoundment have posed challenges for the Humboldt County community for the past few decades due to changes in dam and channel conditions.
“The existing dam has reached the end of its material and functional life, with future action required," the report said. Read about the proposed alternatives and what some people have to say in this week's Humboldt Independent.
