Middle School student charged with terrorism threat

Humboldt School Superintendent Jim Murray reported that on Monday night, Jan. 24, a Humboldt Middle School student sent a threatening text via social media that included words about bringing a weapon to school.
Through an abundance of caution, school administration immediately contacted the police department. The police investigated and subsequently arrested the individual in question.
According to police, the call came in around 6 p.m.
“District administration and local police take threats seriously. Disciplinary procedures are taking place and the threat has been addressed,” Murray stated.
Humboldt Police Chief Joel Sanders reported that through the department’s investigation it was discovered that a 14-year-old student had told students not to come to school on Tuesday, Jan. 25, because the student was going to bring a firearm to school.
