Kaufman signs with Iowa Central volleyball

Humboldt High senior Marissa Kaufman will take her talents to Iowa Central Community College this fall, where she will join the Triton volleyball team.
Kaufman, a 6-foot frontline player who was an all-conference performer for Humboldt’s unbeaten North Central Conference championship team, signed a letter of intent to play for the Tritons last week.

Wildcat boys 3rd in indoor invitational

Humboldt's boys' track team opened their season Friday night (March 11) by hosting the Nielsen Family Invitational inside the Humboldt Recreation Center.

The Wildcats finished with 57.5 points for third-place. Algona won the team title with 116.5 points with Webster City second at 84. Manson-Northwest Webster was fourth at 55, followed by Pocahontas Area at 44, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows at 36.5, Garner-Hayfield/Ventura 36.5, Belmond-Klemme 35 and Eagle Grove at 26.

Humboldt had three runner-up finishes, led by Jordan Coon in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.3 seconds and the shuttle hurdle relay and the 4x800 meter relay. The 60-meter shuttle hurdle relay timed 39.47 seconds and the 4x800 ran 10:07.74.

The 4x400 relay was third in 3:57.75 and Jackson Dodd was third in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.88 seconds.

Humboldt won five events and placed second in the team scoring of their indoor track opener Thursday night (March 10) in the Nielsen Family Fieldhouse at the Humboldt Recreation Center.

The Wildcats totaled 96 points to finish behind Manson-Northwest Webster (108). Webster City was third with 49 points. Pocahontas Area was fourth at 42, Garner-HayfieldVentura fifth with 39 and Roland-Story sixth with 29,

Humboldt won the 4x200 relay (2:02) and the 4x800 relay (11:47.54). The 4x200 consisted of Tayla Wempen, Paige DeWinter, Jennika Beach and Morgan Mann. The 4x800 foursome was Brett Harklau, Meg Zweibohmer, Alana Malo and Sophia Harris.

Rylee Coyle won the shot put throw (37-6) and Morgan Mann won the 400-meters in 1:07. Morgan Olson won the 60-meters in 8:94 seconds.

Humboldt's boys will host their home indoor opener Friday, March 11. The Wildcat girls and boys will host a coed meet on March 18.
