Council sets action plan for projects

The Humboldt City Council heard from Humboldt City Administrator Cole Bockelmann in regards to timelines and budget requirements for city goals for fiscal 2022-23 and fiscal 2023-24.
During a recent strategic planning session, city leaders along with department heads developed a list of priority projects for the community.
At the Humboldt City Council’s Feb. 22 meeting, Bockelmann put forth a list of the priorities and where available, estimated costs and funding sources.

Four Humboldt students on All-Iowa Honor Dance Squad


Humboldt Dance Team members, selected to perform are Lydia Witzke, McKenna Mathis, Ashlee Wergeland, and Riley Kunert.

Four Humboldt students, Lydia Witzke, Ashlee Wergeland, McKenna Mathis and Riley Kunert, are part of the 238 dancers from 92 Iowa High Schools selected to the All-Iowa Honor Dance Team. The girls will perform during halftime of the Girls Class 4A Championship basketball game Saturday, March 5, at 2:30 p.m. 50 girls will also participate in a patriotic pre-game routine. Coverage of the pre-game and halftime performances can be viewed on your local Iowa PBS stations, Channel 11 in Des Moines.

McKimmey signs with Buena Vista University

Humboldt High all-state linebacker Tanner McKimmey last week signed a letter of intent to attend Buena Vista University in Storm Lake and play football for the Beavers.
McKimmey is expected to continue to play linebacker for the Beavers. He was part of a stingy Humboldt defense for the Wildcats, who won their district last year and reached the Class 3A state semifinals.

Mann selected 1st team all-conference

Hansen named to 2nd team, Smith selected to 3rd team

Humboldt freshman Morgan Mann’s impact on the basketball court didn’t go unnoticed by North Central Conference coaches.
Mann was one of four players who received unanimous first-team all-conference selection as the NCC announced post-season honors last week.
Humboldt senior guard Alexis Hansen received second-team honors while senior guard/forward Joie Smith was selected to the third-team.
The trio helped Humboldt compile an overall won-loss record of 12-10 and 9-5 and third-place in the league standings.
