The great thing about an auction is that a little bit can equal a lot.
Under fair skies and mild temperatures, the 31-year-old Wildcat Wonderland Playground was sold, piece-by-piece on June 8, all in an effort to make way for a new, modern playground structure later this summer.
Hundertmark Auction Service auctioned off different portions of the structure, including walking bridges, slides, swing sets and castle tops.
All totaled there were 14 buyers and about that many more interested onlookers. There were 32 pieces of equipment and structure sold for a total price of $2,090. That money will go toward the expense in purchasing the new playground equipment.
Project leaders say that more funds are needed and volunteers are also greatly needed for the playground build, which will be Aug. 16-21. Read the full article in this week's Humboldt Independent.

Preschool playground now in place at Mease

Volunteers worked last weekend to put in place new playground equipment for Mease preschool students and children at the Kiddie Cats Child Care and Learning Center in Dakota City.

The new playground for pre-school students at Mease Elementary School in Dakota City is now in place after two years of planning.
Over the weekend, a group of volunteers constructed the playground, which will be shared with the Kiddie Kats Childcare Center.
Lora Kester, principal at Mease School, and her husband, Dan, were organizers of the project.
“It’s great to finally see it get built,” Lora Kester said.
