Miller eyes starting linebacker spot at MSU

MATT MILLER

Matt Miller is feeling good about the upcoming season for his Minnesota State University football team.

Miller, a 2020 Humboldt High School graduate, begins his third season with the Mavericks and is looking at playing a bigger role at inside linebacker for the Mavericks.

The six-foot-2, 225-pounder saw action in every game for Minnesota State during the 2021 season, whether it was at linebacker or on special teams.

“I’m looking forward to getting back into camp and get started with football and school again,” Miller said in an exclusive interview with the Independent prior to the start of fall camp on Aug. 8.

Humboldt will have pre-k-12th grade conferences and student orientation on Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 23-24. Read about the new instructors in this week's Humboldt Independent. Like the Humboldt Newspapers on Facebook.

The anticipated unveiling of the new food service program in the Humboldt School District is drawing excitement among school administrators.
If students and staff are impressed when school begins in another week, then all indications will point to a rousing success.
During the regular meeting of the board of education Monday night (Aug. 15). Humboldt School Superintendent Jim Murray introduced Jennifer Parker of Opaa Food Service, based out of Missouri. Opaa serves over 900 schools in eight states.
Parker has been training Humboldt’s food service director Melinda Busick, who leads the program. Busick, who was previously employed by the district, is now employed by Opaa but will have the same role.
Hot and cold food options will be available every day in each school building.
