By KENT THOMPSON
Following a year of contentious discussion and uncertain decision-making, on Monday night, the Humboldt County Conservation Board made a declarative statement.
The Board unanimously agreed to offer to put both the Reasoner and Rutland dams up for sale.
“Option 3 (taking out the dam) may be what we are left with. It’s all we can afford,” Conservation Board member Mary Miner said.
“It’s really unfortunate that misinformation led us to this point,” Conservation Board member Tate Satern said.
“I think we should put the (Reasoner) Dam up for sale. Have the Board of Supervisors set the date and have a public hearing, and if no one buys it, we can proceed as we wish,” Satern said.
