The holiday season is a time for family and celebration. This is also a time of the year when local weather can quickly become dangerous and unpredictable. The city of Humboldt enacted several ordinances to mitigate the dangers this weather creates for pedestrian, and vehicle travel. The Humboldt Police Department reminds citizens of the following winter ordinances and appreciates in advance the community’s compliance.

69.11 WINTER PARKING RESTRICTIONS
No person shall park any vehicle on any street between the hours of 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. of any day during the months of December, January, February, and March.

Sande and Blacktop Service meet $12,500 food pantry challenge

Two local businesses, Sande Construction and Blacktop Service Company, combined to donate $12,500 in foodstuffs to the local food pantry recently. "This is the largest on-time donation in the Food Pantry's history," Alissa O'Connor, president of the Humboldt County Food Pantry Board of Directors said.

Thanks to the generosity of two local businesses, needy families will not be going hungry this holiday season
In October, Sande Construction and Supply Company donated $5,000 in groceries to the Humboldt County Food Pantry.
The company made a challenge. If another community-minded business would donate $7,500 to help stock the shelves, Sande would double its donation and contribute another $5,000.
Blacktop Service Company of Humboldt met the challenge, contributing $7,500 to the Food Pantry and Sande gave another $5,000.
“This is the largest one-time donation in the Food Pantry’s history. We are very grateful to the generosity of these two local businesses,” said Alissa O’Connor, president of the Humboldt County Food Pantry Board of Directors (a subsidiary of the Humboldt County Ministerial Alliance.) The Board oversees operations at the Food Pantry through the management of Upper Des Moines Opportunity Inc.
