By JIM SAYERS
Since 1998, Humboldt High School has offered a building trades program through which high school students get hands-on education on residential home construction.
This school year, a 1925-vintage single-family home located near John Brown Park in south Humboldt is undergoing a complete renovation, inside and out, by the building trades class of 14 high school seniors,
This year’s home will highlight energy efficiency. Thanks to a grant from the Iowa Association for Energy Efficiency, managed by The Energy Group, an energy consulting firm from Des Moines, this year's project has been designated as an “energy efficiency education home,” focusing on energy efficiency measures specified by the Iowa Energy Conservation Building Code. Read all about it and see photos of the students and their work in this week's Humboldt Independent. Subscribe and read what you are missing by clicking on the link at the top of this page.
