Wildcat baseball team in 6-0 victory at Hampton

Humboldt used a four run fifth inning and Isaiah Busick struck out nine from the mound to lead the Wildcat baseball team past Hampton-Dumont-CAL, 6-0 Friday night (May 26) in North Central Conference action at Hampton.

Busick aided his cause by hitting a grand slam home run

Humboldt improved to 3-1 on the season.

The Wildcats play two games in the Remsen tournament on Saturday, May 27.

Wildcat girls bury HDC, 15-0

Reagan Lee pitched a 2-hitter as the Humboldt softball team opened North Central Conference play with a 15-0 shutout victory at Hampton Dumont CAL Friday night, May 27.

Lee struck out six. Abby Armitage was 3-4 at bat with a double and a home run to lead the Wildcats. She drove in six runs. Elsie Hubbell was 3-3 with a double.

Humboldt, 2-2 overall, hosts Roland-Story on Tuesday, May 30.

WILDCAT SOCCER TEAM BACK TO STATE!!!!


The Humboldt boys soccer team celebrates after their thrilling, 4-3 victory over the Newton Cardinals in a Class 3A substate final in Humboldt on May 24. The triumph sent the Wildcats to the state tournament for the second straight year. First round action at state in Des Moines begins on May 30. Independent photo by Phil Monson.

The Humboldt boys soccer team earned their second straight trip to the Class 3A state tournament by holding off the Newton Cardinals, 4-3 in an exciting substate final at Mason Maach Field in Humboldt on Wednesday night, May 24.

Humboldt got goals from Trever Beach, Cristhian Ramirez, Henrik Gustafson and Beach again late (24:04). Newton scored with 23:35 left in the second half but couldn't convert in applying relentless pressure against Humboldt in the final minutes. Newton ends its season at 11-7 overall.

The Wildcats advance with a 16-1 overall record. Opening round action at state will be Tuesday, May 30. Humboldt earned a No. 4 seed and will meet No. 5 Norwalk in the quarterfinals at 4:10 p.m. on field number eight at Cownie Sports Complex, 2600 Hartford Ave, Des Moines. Tickets must be purchased online at the IHSAA website: wwww.iahsaa.org/tickets/. Tickets are $13 each. Seating is limited so bring a lawn chair.
