Wildcat baseball, softball teams win openers

The Humboldt High baseball team had no trouble in winning their season opener at home on May 27, rolling to a 10-2 victory over East Sac County.Wildcat pitcher Chris Witzke pitched six innings with 14 strikeouts and no walks. Humboldt's 11-hit attack was paced by Brenden Schnell with three hits and three RBI. Nick Laing had two hits and three RBI. Dillon Fevold, Austin Zylstra and Brady Shelgren each had two hits.Humboldt travels to Cherokee on Thursday, May 29. They visit Ogden on May 30 and host Garrigan on June 2.Humboldt's varsity softball team used a four-run fifth inning to topple Ogden, 7-1 in their season opener in Humboldt. Humboldt produced nine hits to back Avery Terwilliger's five-hit pitching.
