New emergency notification system for county

Monday was more than a federal holiday, a chance to remember those who served our country and our loved ones who have departed. Monday was also the first day Humboldt County citizens could sign up for the new emergency notification system (Humboldt County Emergency Notification System or HCENS) in the county. For the countywide alert system, Humboldt County selected Inspiron Logistics’ Wireless Emergency Notification System (WENS) to provide instant emergency alerts and notifications to its public citizens and as an internal communication tool for police, fire and other county employees. The WENS platform enables officials to instantly communicate directly with phone landlines, mobile devices (text-message), e-mail, pagers and computer desktop alerts. In the event of an emergency, a text message, voice call or e-mail alert will be sent to the contact information the local citizen registers with the system. People can register by going to http://entry.inspironlogistics.com/humboldt_ia/wens.cfm. People can contact Humboldt County Emergency Management Coordinator Pat Colwell at (515) 332-4809, or e-mail pcolwell@humboldtcountyia.org for more information.
