Three way race for Mayor

Tuesday, Nov. 3, marks the general election for city offices around the county. The last day to request an absentee ballot be mailed to your home is this Friday, Oct. 30, by the close of the business day (4:30 p.m.) at the Humboldt County Auditor’s Office. People may vote absentee at the Auditor’s Office on Monday, Nov. 2, or Tuesday, Nov. 3, until 11 a.m. Polling locations will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. in the towns of Humboldt and Gilmore City. The polls will be open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., at all other polling locations across the county. In Humboldt, there is a three-person race for mayor, Incumbent Walter Jensen is being challenged by First Ward Councilman Dan Scholl and local resident Barry Ellis. Other races in the city are uncontested. John Sleiter is running unopposed for Second Ward Council member and Joel Goodell is running unopposed for Third Ward. The First Ward City Council seat will be filled by write-in ballot. For Humboldt Park Board commissioner, two of three incumbents, Mike Worthington and Lance DeWinter are seeking re-election.
