HUMBOLDT – The Humboldt High School softball team won the 2016 North Central Conference title in convincing and outright fashion here Wednesday night (June 29) by shutting out the Webster City Lynx, 7-0. Even with two games left in the regular season, the victory gave Humboldt the outright conference championship. The Wildcats improved to 24-6 overall, 12-1 in North Central Conference play.
Ellie Jacobson pitched a two-hitter and struck out seven and Humboldt backed her up with nine hits. Avery Terwilliger, Olivia Birdsell and Jacobson each had two hits on the night.

Humboldt will play host to Estherville-Lincoln Central in non-conference play on Thursday, June 30. Algona will come to Humboldt on Friday, July 1, in a regular season conference game.
