Humboldt was clearly the dominant softball team in the North Central Conference in 2016.
The Wildcats’ dominance was cemented with eight players named to the post-season all-conference team by league coaches.
Humboldt, which finished 26-7 overall, 13-1 in the NCC, had six juniors and two eighth graders named to post-season honors.
Junior shortstop Avery Terwilliger was a unanimous first-team pick, along with junior centerfielder Beth Duffield. Other first-team picks include eighth grade pitcher Ellie Jacobson and eighth grade outfielder Carlie Thompson.
Humboldt has a trio of juniors on the second-team unit, they include catcher Kelsey Peters, first baseman Halie George and third baseman Taylor Gidel, who was listed at utility/designated hitter. Junior outfielder Olivia Birdsell was chosen third-team.
“We were represented very nicely with our all-conference selections. To me that’s more of a reflection of what your team achieves,” Humboldt 20-year head coach Doug Van Pelt said. “We walked through the conference and were by far the best team in the league. It is reflected by our individual selections.”
