West Bend teen killed in crash near Ottosen
A single vehicle rollover crash southwest of Ottosen on Humboldt County Road P-19, has claimed the life of a West Bend teenager.
Hunter J. Origer, 17, West Bend, suffered critical injuries in the accident, which occurred on Wednesday, April 5, around 9 p.m., according to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).
According to a preliminary report, Origer was traveling northbound on P-19, approximately one-half mile south of Iowa Highway 15, when he was entering a curve in the road to the west and the vehicle left the roadway to the east, entering the ditch and rolling one time before coming to rest.
Origer was ejected and was found by an area resident a short time later, who called 911.
He was taken by ambulance to the Kossuth Regional Medical Center in Algona, where he later died from his injuries.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Gilmore City Ambulance, West Bend Ambulance, West Bend Fire Department, Algona EMS and the Iowa State Patrol.
Origer was a junior at West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate School. He also had several friends in the Humboldt Community School District.
