HUMBOLDT GIRLS ARE NCC GOLF CHAMPIONS AGAIN!!

The Humboldt High School girls' golf team capped a perfect run through the North Central Conference this season by winning the team title of the league tournament held today (May 8) at Lakeside Golf Course north of Fort Dodge. The Wildcats finished with 353 strokes, one better than runner-up Clear Lake (354). Fort Dodge St. Edmond was third at 398 in the eight-team field.

Wildcat seniors Avery Terwilliger (86) and Brooke Anderson (87) paced the Wildcats placing third and fourth individually overall. Frances Carlson was also fourth at 87 and Olivia Birdsell and Halie George both shot 93. Kelly Boleyn carded a 104.

Humboldt's boys placed third in the NCC tournament at Clarion Monday. The Wildcats shot a 345 total. League champion Webster City totaled 309 and Clear Lake was next at 312. Fort Dodge St. Edmond was one shot behind Humboldt with a 346 in the eight-team field of schools.

Jack Arndt was sixth overall with a 79 to pace the Wildcat boys. Hudson Gargano was 15th with 86, Jamison and Evan Smith each shot a 90 while Isaac Thurm had 101 and Drew Thomas 108.

The Humboldt girls will close out their regular season in the Storm Lake Invitational on Saturday, May 13. They'll prepare for a Class 4A regional tournament at Denison on Monday, May 22, to determine entries for the state tournament in Marshalltown May 30-31. Humboldt's boys, meanwhile, will open Class 3A Sectional Tournament play on May 12 at Storm Lake. The top two teams and top five individuals in the sectional advance to a district at Spencer on May 18.
