Memorial Day services around the county

There will be a number of Memorial Day observances in the area on Monday, May 29.
Humboldt
Humboldt’s annual Memorial Day program will be held on Monday, May, 29, starting with a parade at 9:15 a.m. The parade route is from the Humboldt County Law Enforcement Center west on Sumner Avenue to Bicknell Park.
There will be a salute to those lost at sea on the Sumner Avenue bridge at 9:25 a.m., followed by the Memorial Day program at Bicknell Park at 9:30 a.m.
Giving the Address of the Day will be Sandi Lee of Dakota City. Sandi is a Vietnam War Veteran, serving in the Navy at a Navy flight training school. Ron Rasmussen will serve as the master of ceremonies, Rev. Christy Ehrle will give the invocation and benediction. Members of the Humboldt High School Marching Band will provide special music.
Livermore
The Livermore American Legion Otto Field Post 415 will honor veterans on Memorial Day, Monday morning, May 29, with a program at 9 a.m., upstairs inside the Legion Post 415. The 21-gun salute and Taps will be at the Humboldt County Freedom Rock just across the street.
The guest speaker will be The American Legion of Iowa District Champlain, Chaplain Dr. Daniel A. McClure from the Legion post Leon Beatty Post 29, Washington. Memorial services at area cemeteries will follow the program in Livermore.
Renwick
Renwick will have a special Memorial Day program at Veterans Memorial Park at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 29. In case of rain the program will be moved indoors to the Renwick Community Center. The program is being dedicated to surviving World War II veterans from the Boone Valley area. Walter Martin will provide remarks, Kris Baessler Palmer will lead songs and the featured speaker will be Renwick class of 1946 graduate Ken Block of Northwood.
Gilmore City
Gilmore City Harnett-Johnson American Legion 239 and Auxiliary will hold a Memorial Day program on Monday, May 29, at 10 a.m. at the Wolcott Center, Gilmore City School.
The speaker will be Paula Wakefield, niece of Emmet Harnett.
