Humboldt girls 2nd after day 1 of 4A state golf

The Humboldt girls’ golf team is in second-place after the opening day of the Class 4A State Golf Championships in Marshalltown.
The Wildcats, with a 371 total, are just three shots back from first-place Dubuque Wahlert (368). Grinnell is third at 381, followed by Nevada with 391, Washington at 392, Mount Pleasant with 401, Creston 406 and Carroll 409.
Humboldt’s Brooke Anderson is third overall with an 85. Avery Terwilliger is tied for 12th with 93 and Halie George is tied for 15th with 94. Next in line for Humboldt is Frances Carlson with 99, Olivia Birdsell at 102 and Kelly Boleyn with 105.
Day two, the final day, will begin Wednesday morning at Elmwood Country Club west of Marshalltown.
