Win number 500 for coach Van Pelt as Wildcats roll, 8-0

Humboldt softball coach Doug Van Pelt earned his 500th career victory Monday night (June 5) at Hampton as his fourth ranked Wildcats blanked Hampton-Dumont, 8-0 in seven innings. The triumph improved Humboldt's record to 9-0 overall, 4-0 in the North Central Conference. Ellie Jacobson earned the win pitching for Humboldt and Kelsey Peters socked a 3-run home run in the sixth inning to highlight Humboldt's victory. Van Pelt, now in his 21st season leading the Wildcats, took over the program at his alma mater in 1997.
