Wildcat boys down Algona, girls fall

Humboldt's varsity baseball picked up another conference win Wednesday night at home after topping Algona, 11-8. The Wildcats moved to 9-4 overall, 3-1 in conference play. Colby Clarken earned the win on the mound for the Wildcats in relief of starter Owen Newton. The Wildcats totaled six hits and stole eight bases.

Humboldt's varsity softball team suffered their first loss of the season as Algona edged the Wildcats, 2-0 on June 7 in Humboldt. The Wildcats fell to 10-1 overall, 4-1 in the NCC. The Wildcat girls host Belmond on Thursday while the boys' game at Boone on June 8 was called off due to a thunderstorm. It will not be made up.
