Clear Lake edges Humboldt boys in 8 innings, 8-7

Clear Lake scored the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning to edge Humboldt, 8-7 in a North Central Conference baseball game in Humboldt Wednesday night. The loss dropped Humboldt's season record to 10-7 overall, 4-4 in NCC action.

The Humboldt baseball team had early command of the Fort Dodge St. Edmond Gaels Monday night (June 19) in Fort Dodge, but it didn’t last long as SE scored 15 unanswered runs to pull out a 15-11 victory over the Wildcats.
The North Central Conference loss dropped the Wildcats’ record to 10-6 overall, 4-3 in conference play.
The Wildcats scored six runs in the third inning as six straight batters reached base for the Wildcats. Devon Clark went 3-for-4 at bat with a triple. Hudson Gargano hit two doubles and Joey Busse and Reese DeWinter each had three RBI.
St. Edmond was able to score four runs in the fourth inning, 10 in the fifth and one in the sixth on the strength of 15 walks and four hit batters issued by Humboldt pitchers.

Humboldt hosts Iowa Falls-Alden on Friday, June 23. The Wildcats play in the Estherville-Lincoln Central tournament on Saturday. Humboldt hosts Hampton-Dumont on Monday, June 26.
