Humboldt girls in 7-5 victory at Garrigan

Humboldt's varsity softball team stepped out of conference play Thursday night and picked up a 7-5 victory at Algona Bishop Garrigan. The triumph gave Humboldt a 21-2 overall record. Kelsey Peters and Mady Lange each had two hits for Humboldt's eight-hit batting order. Avery Terwilliger earned the win pitching.

HHS GIRLS RIP LIONS, 14-4, MOVE TO 20-2 OVERALL
Humboldt’s No. 2 ranked softball team had no trouble in winning its 20th game of the season Wednesday night (June 21) when they pounded Clear Lake, 20-2. The victory moved the Wildcats to 10-1 in the North Central Conference. Carlie Thompson and Avery Terwilliger each had three hits for HHS. Mady Lange and Kelsey Peters both homered for Humboldt's 12-hit attack.

Humboldt made it a season sweep of Fort Dodge St. Edmond by handing the Gaels a 6-1 loss in Fort Dodge Monday night (June 19).
The Wildcats totaled 10 hits in the game and got a two-hit pitching performance from Ellie Jacobson to earn the victory. It was the second 6-1 victory over FDSE in a span of four days and moved Humboldt’s record to 19-2 overall, 9-1 in conference play.
Jacobson walked just two and struck out nine from the pitching circle. At the plate, the Wildcats got two hits apiece from Carlie Thompson, Mady Lange, Kelsey Peters and Olivia Birdsell.

Humboldt plays at Boone on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. They’ll play in the Pella Christian tournament on Saturday, June 24, before returning home on Monday, June 26. To face Hampton-Dumont.

HUMBOLDT HOSTS 1ST ROUND REGION 3 TOURNAMENT GAME
Post-season tournament pairings are out and Humboldt will host Gilbert in a Class 3A Region 3 tournament game on Wednesday, July 5, 7 p.m. The winner will play Roland-Story or South Hardin on Friday, July 7, in Humboldt.
The other half of Region 3 has Cherokee meeting Greene County and Southeast Valley playing Kuemper Catholic of Carroll with Cherokee hosting a semifinal. The Region 3 final will be played on Monday, July 10, at the site of the remaining school with the highest seed. The winner advances into the state tournament in Fort Dodge July 17-21.
