Wildcat softball team wins NCC title!

The No. 4 ranked Humboldt softball team wrapped up its conference season Friday night by blanking Iowa Falls-Alden 2-0. The Wildcats moved to 27-4 overall and finish alone on top of the NCC at 13-1.

Humboldt clinched the North Central Conference title by stopping Algona, 8-3 Wednesday night (June 28) in Algona. Humboldt amassed 13 hits. Carlie Thompson, Avery Terwilliger and Olivia Birdsell each had three hits for the Wildcats while Ellie Jacobson pitched a six-hitter with 10 strikeouts. Humboldt tangles with Estherville-Lincoln Central on Thursday night. Humboldt hosts Spencer on July 3 in their final regular season game. The Wildcats host Gilbert on July 5 in first round Region 3 Tournament game at 7 p.m.

Humboldt downed Pocahontas Area, 10-3 Tuesday night (June 27) in Pocahontas in non-conference play. The Wildcats totaled 10 hits on the night with Carlie Thompson leading the way by going 3-for-4 at bat with a triple and two RBI. Pitcher Ellie Jacobson pitched all seven innings and allowed five hits, one walk and struck out nine. A 4-run fourth inning put HHS ahead for good.
