HUMBOLDT SOFTBALL TEAM TO STATE!!
HUMBOLDT - Humboldt's fourth ranked softball team wasn't to be denied here Monday night (July 10) as the senior-dominated team displayed the poise and precision they've shown all season long by shutting out Southeast Valley, 5-0 in a Class 3A Region 3 Championship game.
The Wildcats, 31-4 on the season, earned the school's fifth state tournament trip, first since 2006, with an impressive performance against the Jaguars (28-6). Freshman pitcher Ellie Jacobson threw a two-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks and Humboldt clubbed 10 hits and used its bunting and base running to perfection to cap a storybook season.
The Wildcats will advance into the state tournament next week in Fort Dodge (July 17-21). Humboldt drew a No. 4 seed and will play No. 5 seed Center Point-Urbana (29-10) on Monday, July 17, 7:30 p.m. on Diamond 2 at Rogers Park.
