The Iowa State Cyclone Wrestling Regional Training Center fundraiser will take place on Saturday, Aug. 19, at Rustix Restaurant (716 Sumner Avenue) in downtown Humboldt.
The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with a VIP meet and greet with coaches, open bar and appetizers. The general admission opening with pork chop dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. Coaches will speak at 7:15 p.m. with a raffle, auction and the Kris Karr band performing at 8 p.m.
Humboldt native and Cyclone head coach Kevin Dresser will be on hand along with coaches Mike Zadick, Derek St. John and Brent Metcalf. The raffle will have cash prizes totaling $2,000.
Dresser is excited to be returning to his hometown and north central Iowa as he works to rebuild the Cyclone wrestling program, which he took over in late February.
“This is shaping up to be an amazing event and I’m excited to be back in Humboldt that night,” Dresser said. “I’ll have my entire staff at Rustix and you’ll get to hear from all of them.”
“The Cyclone Regional Training Center is a non-profit organization affiliated with USA Wrestling whose mission is to provide a place for athletes to train together and be coached by world-class competitors – including members of my staff who were part of the U.S. Olympic and World Teams.”
“Regional training centers like the C-RTC have become an essential component of every top Division I-A program. To recruit, develop and retain elite wrestlers, from high school students striving for championships to college and post-graduate athletes striving for NCAA, World and Olympic titles – all of these athletes must train together in one place,” Dresser said. “The C-RTC is the means to that end.”
“The success of the C-RTC will be far-reaching, and could have positive implications for talented high school wrestlers in Humboldt, Fort Dodge and the entire North Central Conference,” Dresser said.
“The evening in Humboldt is an opportunity for Iowans to come out and learn about and support the C-RTC,” Dresser said.
Cost is $50 for individual admission, $150 for VIP one person, $250 for VIP two people and $400 VIP for four people. VIP packages include entry in raffle. All payments are tax deductible. You can go online in advance to register and pay at the door, or RSVP and pay by check to event organizer. Checks made payable to: Cyclone Regional Training Center.
