Wildcat girls 1st at Eagle Grove, boys 4th

Led by Bryce Gidel and Gabby Kent, the Humboldt girls' cross country team claimed the team title in the Dick Bell Invitational at Eagle Grove on Oct. 3. The Wildcats finished with 27 points to top runner-up Spencer with 37.
Gidel was first overall in 19:47 to lead the Wildcats. Kent was second in 20:18. Lauren Erickson ran sixth, Isabella Luu seventh and Elizabeth Hildreth was 11th.

Humboldt's boys finished fourth with 96 points. Gilbert (43), Clear Lake (62) and Garner-Hayfield/Ventura (76) finished in the top three spots. Quintin Orr led Humboldt by running seventh in 17:37 while Denny Pederson was eighth in 17:39. Joe Kunert ran 25th and Noah Helmer was 27th.

Humboldt will now focus on the upcoming North Central Conference race at Algona on Oct. 10.
