An inspired effort by the Humboldt High football team against Bishop Heelan Catholic of Sioux City wasn't enough Friday night (Oct. 13) as the visiting Crusaders scored two second half touchdowns to pull away to a 22-7 victory over the Wildcats in a Class 3A District One contest at Mason Maach Field in Humboldt.

Humboldt's only score of the game came in the second quarter on a 25-yard run by Tyler Vitzthum. Lucas Volf kicked the point-after to make it 14-7 with 3:03 left in the first half. Heelan scored with 1:00 left in the game on a run by Saybein Clark to add some insurance after Humboldt turned the ball over on downs late in the game on a drive that came up short.

The Wildcats, 2-6 overall, 1-5 in district play, close out their season at home on Friday, Oct. 20, when they host LeMars. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
