Greg Thomas, who has guided the Humboldt High School football team for the past 18 seasons, has announced he is stepping down from his position.
His departure as head coach is contingent upon action by the Humboldt School board at their regular monthly meeting on Nov. 20. He will remain as athletic director and assistant principal at Humboldt.
Thomas came to Humboldt in 2000 after an eight-year run at Galva-Holstein, where he went 44-24. Thomas has compiled a won-loss record of 79-93 during his time in Humboldt, which includes a state championship in 2006 and six state playoff appearances, along with three district championships.
