Humboldt’s volleyball team had four players named to the coaches’ North Central All-Conference team.
Junior hitter Ashlyn Clark and freshman hitter Jori Hajek were chosen first-team while senior blocker Sydney Lane and senior setter Rachel Darling were named second-team.
Their selections were announced by Wildcat head coach Justin McDaniel last week. The Wildcats’ three-year reign as conference champions came to an end this year as Humboldt finished 5-2 and runner-up in the conference to league champ Iowa Falls-Alden (7-0).
Nonetheless, Humboldt put together a winning formula again despite entering the season with just two returning letterwinners. Humboldt competed for the top spot in the league and finished 26-8 overall, advancing to a Class 3A Region One championship match where they fell to top-ranked Sioux Center.
The honors don’t stop there. Humboldt also had seniors Cassie Peyton and Lizzie Tecklenburg named to the all-state academic team.
