A much-taller Garner-Hayfield/Ventura squad proved to be too much for Humboldt's varsity boys' basketball team Thursday night (Dec. 21) as the Wildcats fell to the Cardinals, 68-56 in a non-conference game at Garner.

Calvin Carlson scored 14 points and Jamison Heinz made 12 to lead Humboldt, which slipped to 2-6 overall on the season. The Cardinals, 7-3, were led by Nick Joint with 30 points. Ryan Meyers made 18 and 6-foot-7 junior and UNI recruit James Betz added 14.

Humboldt will be off until Friday, Jan. 5, when they host Iowa Falls-Alden in a North Central Conference game. See full story in the Humboldt Independent. Subscribe today for print/digital access by selecting the link on this page to get started!
