Algona rallies past Humboldt boys, 61-43

Humboldt's varsity boys' basketball team had everything clicking in the first quarter of their home game with Algona Friday night (Feb. 9) inside the Humboldt gym as the Wildcats raced out to a 21-6 lead. Algona, however, chipped away and ended up taking the lead in the third quarter and pulled away in the second half to a 61-43 victory over the Wildcats.

Jamison Heinz scored 12 points and Owen Terwilliger netted seven to lead the Wildcats, who slipped to 7-12 overall, 5-9 in the North Central Conference.

Humboldt will return to action at home against Carroll on Monday, Feb. 12. The Wildcats visit Storm Lake in their regular season finale on Feb. 15.

Humboldt will begin Class 3A district tournament play on the road on Feb. 19 when they visit Waverley-Shell Rock in a 7:30 p.m. game.
