Busse earns 6th place medal in state wrestling!

Humboldt's Joey Busse earned a sixth-place medal at 145 pounds in the Class 2A State Wrestling Tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
Busse, 45-7, who entered the tournament ranked No. 9, went 0-2 on the day on Saturday in the consolation finals. Busse lost 10-2 to Tanner Abbas and was pinned by Klayton Keller of Saydel in his two bouts on Saturday.

Busse guaranteed himself of winning a medal by stopping Eric Campie of Comanche, 4-1, in the Friday morning consolation wrestle back round. Earlier in the day in the quarterfinals, Busse lost a hard-fought, 4-2 decision to Saydel's Klayton Keller.
Busse came back in the Friday afternoon session and defeated Colton Vest of South Tama, 11-8.

OPENING DAY AT STATE
Busse won his opening round match in the Class 2A State Wrestling Tournament in Des Moines on Thursday, Feb. 15, at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

Busse improved to 43-4 on the season with an 8-4 victory over Andrew Rohret of Clear Creek-Amana in their first round match.
