Johnson ends career in state wrestling tournament

Humboldt High senior Brandon Johnson wrapped up his wrestling career competing in the Class 2A State Wrestling Championships on day one inside Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines on Thursday, Feb. 15.

Johnson, competing at 220 pounds, went 0-2 on the day to end up getting eliminated from the tournament. In his opening round match he lost by fall 2:19 to No. 3 ranked Tyler Anderson of Odebolt-Arthur-Battle Creek/Ida Grove. In the consolation wrestle back, Johnson battled Monticello's Lake Sahlberg before falling 5-2.
