Humboldt boys fall at Waverly in 3A district opener

The Humboldt boys basketball team ended their season Tuesday night (Feb. 20) in a Class 3A District Tournament game at Waverly-Shell Rock in first round play, falling 74-44 to the Go-Hawks. Calvin Carlson scored 19 points to pace Humboldt.

Humboldt finishes with a 7-15 record while the Go-Hawks move to 16-6. WSR will host Crestwood in a district final on Thursday, Feb. 22. Crestwood advanced with a double overtime win over Clear Lake in Tuesday’s first game.

In the other half of the substate, Charles City defeated Iowa Falls-Alden and Webster City edged Decorah. Charles City and Webster City meet in a district final in Charles City on Feb. 22. The substate final game will be played on Monday, Feb. 26, in Mason City.
