Carlson, Heinz named all-NCC basketball

A good-sized crowd was on hand last week to recognize the Humboldt High boys’ basketball program.
The potluck dinner banquet on Mar. 8 at the middle school cafeteria, paid tribute to the recent 2017-18 season in which the Wildcat varsity posted an overall record of 7-15, 5-9 and sixth in the North Central Conference.
Third-year head coach Jason Hoag was joined by assistants Scott Birdsell and Dan Savery in recognizing the Wildcats.
Among the highlights was the all-conference recognition. Junior guard Calvin Carlson was named second-team All-North Central Conference and sophomore guard Jamison Heinz was named third-team.
Carlson averaged 16.6 points per game to lead the Wildcats and Heinz was next at 12.8 per game. Carlson shot 33.7 percent from 3-point range, hitting 56 of 166 attempts. He had a sizzling 87.3 percent free throw percentage, making 69 of 79 attempts. He also had 15 steals, 46 assists and 85 rebounds.

Heinz made 23 of 68 3-point attempts for 33.8 pecent. He also made 24 of 38 free throws. Heinz had a team-high 112 assists and also led in steals with 18.
