Sixty-four years and going strong, Becker Construction Enterprises Co., better known as Becker Ag Sales, has grown and progressed over time, but still has the commitment to its customers that founder Al Becker had in mind when he started the company in 1954.
Located on Highway 169 in St. Joe, right across from the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Becker Ag Sales is a full-service company offering specialized crews for repair, maintenance and installation of new and used grain handling/storage equipment.
Dick Danielson, who lives south of Dakota City, is the company owner.
The company was founded in 1954 by Al Becker. He operated the business until his sons, Rich and Ron Becker, took over the business in 1982. The Becker brothers ran the company until 2014, when Dick and his wife, Linda, bought the business.
During the past almost four years, Danielson has expanded business operations. During the past 1.5 years, the company has gotten involved in agricultural building construction and is poised to expand into commercial construction. The company has also sold and installed more grain extensions, towers and tower dryers. The company also now does on-the-farm grain hauling and has a grain vacuuming service.
In addition to the sales and construction facet, a lot of the company’s business is service related.
“We service whole grain storage and handling systems on the farm, everything from heater fans to transfer augers, legs and conveyors, towers, dryers, anything the farmer needs to be able to keep, dry and transfer his grain on the farm," Danielson said.
