Humboldt track teams win titles at Eagle Grove

The Humboldt High School girl/boy track teams kept up their winning ways by taking first in the team scoring of the Eagle Grove Relays on Saturday, April 28.

The Wildcat girls were paced by Bryce Gidel, who won both the 1,500 (5:15.51) and 3,000 (10:45.35) meters races. Lily Groat won the 200 meters (29.25), Gabby Kent won the 800 (2:34.83), Jori Hajek won the 100 meter hurdles (17.16) and Trinity Helmer took the high jump (4-10). Humboldt also won the 4x200, 4x400, sprint medley and distance medley relay races.

The Humboldt boys won seven individual events to finish first. Tyler Vitzthum won the 200 meters (24.94), Denny Pederson won the 400 meters (50.92), Noah Helmer won the 800 meters (2:13.09), Joseph Kunert won the 1,600 meters (4:50.18), Quinton Orr won the 3,200 meters (10:02.33), Sawyer Savery won the 400 meter hurdles (59.62) and Matt Miller won the long jump (19-6). Humboldt also won the 4x100 and sprint medley relays.

The Wildcat boys will compete in the Algona Relays on Monday, April 30. The North Central Conference meets are scheduled for Thursday, May 3. The girls meet will be in Webster City while the boys meet will be in Fort Dodge.
