The Humboldt Area Arts Council’s (HAAC) annual Sumner Sip & Stroll event will take place on Wednesday, May 30 this year.
It will be held from 5-8 p.m. rain or shine. People can register at the Humboldt Arts Center at 906 Sumner Avenue. Cost is $25 per person.
Participants will receive an engraved wine glass and a Sumner Stroll Card. They can then visit the downtown Humboldt locations listed on the Stroll Card to sample various wines and beer and have some snacks. Participants can watch for clues at each location and match the clues to the locations on the card. The completed Stroll Card can then be turned in back at the Arts Center by 8 p.m. to be entered to win a grand prize gift basket.
New this year, the participants can make a wine charm for their glass at the Arts Center at registration. The first charm is free and more can be made for a $5 charge. There will be a selfie/photo opportunity that will tie in to this year’s “Bob Ross” style theme, “A Happy Little Sip & Stroll.” Rachel Frideres, a local Independent Wine Guide from Traveling Vineyards, will be on hand with information about setting up exclusive in-home wine tasting events.
Also new this year are a few more beer stops added to the Sip & Stroll route. The HAAC encourages anyone over the age of 21 to come participate. Enjoy an evening spring walk, taste some great wines and beer, and see all the great things downtown Humboldt has to offer.
Sumner Stroll stops include: Insite Creatives with craft beer from Fuel restaurant from Clarion; The Pour House serving Sangria; Gordy’s at Rustix with Little Swan Lake Winery; Tractor Lift Brewery serving their own local beer; Knotty Pine with River Valley Orchards winery; Witz End with wine from Wempen’s Garden Center; Feather Your Nest with craft beer from Hy-Vee Wine & Spirits; Humboldt Realty with Rustic Brew of Hampton beer samples and Carbon Boutique clothing/jewelry display; Sister’s Home Style Entrees with Fireside Winery and Humboldt Engraving & Gifts with Stone Cliff winery.
The Sumner Sip and Stroll is a fundraising event for the Humboldt Arts Festival, which will be held on June 16 on the grounds of the Humboldt County Historical Museum. Funds raised at the Sip & Stroll help make many activities at the Arts Festival free. The HAAC is a non-profit organization with the mission of enriching our community’s quality of life by encouraging the education and appreciation of the visual, performing and literary arts.
