Carlson, McCartan advance to state golf

Kenzie McCartan placed fourth individually and teammate Frances Carlson was seventh in a Class 3A Regional golf tournament in LeMars on Monday, May 21. McCartan carded a 91 and Carlson shot a 94 over two rounds as both advanced into next week's state tournament in Ames.

Humboldt placed third as a team with 385 strokes. Carroll won the meet with a 374 total and MOC-Floyd Valley shot 375 to earn the top two spots in the team scoring to move on to state. Harlan was fourth at 398 in the 12-team field of schools. Marissa Weeks of Spirit Lake was meet medalist with a 74 to lead all golfers. State meet action will take place May 29-30 at Coldwater Links in Ames.
